This 14-story building built in 1926 once housed administrative and sales departments of The Rudolph Wurlitzer Company, the famous piano, theater organ, and jukebox manufacturer.
Originally designed by Detroit architect Robert Finn, the repurposing into a hotel began in earnest when developer ASH NYC purchased the building in 2015 and The Siren Hotel was born. In addition to the 106 guest rooms, the building also contains a total of seven restaurants and communal drinking areas and two retail spaces.
Noted historic renovation architecture firm Quinn Evans Associates of Ann Arbor, Michigan hired Soundscape Engineering to address sound and footfall isolation of guest rooms from live music and crowd noise on the rooftop patio and sound and vibration isolation from the rooftop mechanical units. We also advised on the sound isolation of third floor guest rooms from a lively restaurant space below.
The hotel won the 2019 Sleeper publication sponsored Awards for Hospitality Experience and Design in the Americas Hotel Conversion category.
