The Discovery World Museum is an Educational Science and Technology Center located in the Museum Campus along the shores of Lake Michigan in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Museum completed a 10,000 square foot Pavilion expansion to add space for special events, educational programming and traveling shows.

The large open plan of the multi-purpose space proved challenging due to the floor to ceiling glass walls needed to meet the “bring the outside in” client goal. Large, open plan spaces such as this can be noisy and overly reverberant, rendering them uncomfortable or even nonfunctional, depending on the type of event or traveling exhibit being hosted. Soundscape was asked to join the project team to ensure that the acoustics of the new Pavilion would support all the planned functions, from controlling reverberant noise build-up during banquets to enabling people to clearly hear visiting scholars or the father of the bride.

With Soundscape's assistance the design team created a quiet HVAC system and used sleek, modern materials, to simultaneously achieve the acoustical and visual goals.
