Chicane is Metro Detroit’s newest fine dining destination. Located in a former rail building in Plymouth’s historic Old Village.
Chicane bills itself as an “ode to the traditional supper club,” offering a high-end dinner menu and live entertainment Tuesday through Saturday. A major renovation of the building and property was undertaken to create a unique experience for restaurant patrons and an adjoining, opulent event space.
An integral aspect of the owner’s vision was to create a space in which diners could both enjoy live music and easily carry on a conversation across the table. To this end, Soundscape calculated the quantity of sound absorption needed and worked with the project architect to ensure that the selection, placement, and specification of finishes, would result in a lively space but one in which noise buildup was controlled. Soundscape also advised on partition types and sound absorbing treatments to confine kitchen noise in the kitchen and facilitate easy communication between kitchen staff without impeding movement between kitchen and dining spaces.
The combination of featured and inconspicuous sound absorbing finishes that were incorporated into the architectural design fully realized the owner’s acoustic goals.
