Durand High School unveils its new auditorium addition, designed to serve both students and the broader community.

The district sought a versatile performance space capable of accommodating amplified and unamplified music, dramatic theater productions, and lecture series. To support this range of programming, 3D computer modeling software was used to analyze the auditorium’s shape and interior angles, ensuring optimal acoustics for a variety of events. Given the depth of the room, acoustic absorption was added to the rear of the audience area to prevent perceptible echoes on stage. Overhead acoustic reflecting clouds were strategically designed to enhance sound projection, particularly for unamplified voices.

In addition to room acoustics modeling and prediction, Soundscape provided detailed recommendations for HVAC noise control and sound isolation between the auditorium and adjacent support spaces.
