Healthcare Design Magazine highlighted a Soundscape Engineering project, the Henry Ford Health System Bloomfield Medical Office Building, in their October 2020 issue.

The primary acoustical challenge was one third of the building, which houses exam, treatment, and procedure rooms, was located directly under an existing parking deck.  Vehicles driving overhead would easily be heard without sound mitigation since the underside of the deck formed part of the plenum.  To prevent structure-borne noise intrusion, Soundscape recommended a fully decoupled wall and ceiling support system that also benefited the mechanical and electrical system installation and smoothing the parking deck surface to reduce impact sounds from rolling over discontinuities.  Enhanced sound blocking capabilities for the ceiling panels was also recommended as an airborne sound isolation element.  As a result of the acoustical design, vehicles in the deck are not heard in the medical spaces below.
