Acoustical Consultant for Nanotech Research Lab
University of British Columbia
Low Vibration Facility at the Advanced Materials & Process Engineering Laboratory
Vancouver, British Columbia
To be located in the Brimacombe building at the University of British Columbia, this facility aims to create an ideal environment for performing high stability, low noise scanning probe microscopy, comparable to or outperforming similar advanced metrology facilities worldwide.
Soundscape Engineering worked with our Canadian Partner firm, Daniel Lyzun & Associates Ltd., to assist the project design team in achieving the extremely stringent noise level criteria established for the project.
With occupied spaces above, a building mechanical room nearby, an adjacent room housing pumps and compressors, and a need to avoid using ferromagnetic materials for the research pods, meeting the noise criteria required careful attention to detailing the sound isolating constructions and strict specification of high performance acoustical products. Construction of this complex project is scheduled for completion in 2012.
